"Child,
Cultural Identity, Environment" Exhibition

The
Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature in Iran
The 5th International Environment Exhibition
7-11 June 2004

In this
exhibition, visitors, especially children, got familiar with environmental
phenomena in literature including The Asorique Tree (The Legend of the Goat
and the Palmdate), one of the oldest children's literary texts in Iran and
textbooks.

In popular literature, there are
folktales, rhymes or fables such as Davidam o Davidam (I Run
and Run) which illustrate the food chain for the soil, water,
plants, animals and human beings. |

In classic Iranian literature in the Islamic period, there were
great Iranian poets who addressed children and adolescents and invited them to
appreciate nature.

In modern times,
the first children’s poets like Jabbar Baghcheban and Abbas Yamini
Sharif, wrote poems about nature and tried to strengthen children’s
love and respect for nature. |

In
the Constitutional Era, writers and poets like Iraj Mirza and
Abdolrahim Talebof attracted children and adolescents’ interests in
nature through poems and science fiction. |
