The Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature in Iran

The 5th International Environment Exhibition

7-11 June 2004

In this exhibition, visitors, especially children, got familiar with environmental phenomena in literature including The Asorique Tree (The Legend of the Goat and the Palmdate), one of the oldest children's literary texts in Iran and textbooks.

In popular literature, there are folktales, rhymes or fables such as Davidam o Davidam (I Run and Run) which illustrate the food chain for the soil, water, plants, animals and human beings.

In classic Iranian literature in the Islamic period, there were great Iranian poets who addressed children and adolescents and invited them to appreciate nature.

In modern times, the first children’s poets like Jabbar Baghcheban and Abbas Yamini Sharif, wrote poems about nature and tried to strengthen children’s love and respect for nature.

In the Constitutional Era, writers and poets like Iraj Mirza and Abdolrahim Talebof attracted children and adolescents’ interests in nature through poems and science fiction.
