About Us

The Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature in Iran (IRHCLI) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to researching the history of children’s literature in Iran. It was established in 2000 by researchers who had begun working on the subject since 1997.

The IRHCLI’s main office is in Tehran. A library has been established to provide the material for researchers.

The IRHCLI’s 45-member staff includes researchers, research assistants in large cities who extend to many big cities like Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz, Mashhad, Yazd, Qom, Librarians, Bibliographers, Biographers and a Publishing team.

Our Mission:

  • To research and publish books on the history of children’s literature.
  • To provide training and support for young researchers.
  • To gather every piece of information concerning the children’s cultural life throughout the history of Iran.
  • To gather the biographies of all people who have been engaged in Iranian children’s literature.
  • To collect children's books published between 1850 and 1989.
  • To operate and expand a historian research library.
  • To design and establish an online database which includes all information about the Iranian children's literature available to all researchers, students and interested public.
  • To design and establish a virtual museum on the Iranian history of children's literature.
  • To promote creative and active reading among children and young adults.
